WARNING - UNLOCKING WILL FACTORY RESET AND WIPE DATA Tools needed - MsmDownloadTool - fastboot Files - unlock.ops - revert.ops (previously stock.ops, renamed; undoes unlock.ops changes) (found in the same directory as this document) BEFORE YOU BEGIN ---------------- Read this entire document at least once before starting. Flash the device to stock android 11 using MsmDownloadTool before unlocking. (you can skip the setup wizard and use the button combinations to boot EDL) UNLOCKING --------- Remove or rename any *.ops files in your MsmDownloadTool directory and copy the unlock.ops file into the directory - if there are multiple ops files in the directory MsmDownloadTool will pop up a file selection dialog but will always error saying "Packed image not exist!". Load MsmDownloadTool and reflash using unlock.ops. (approx 15 sec) The phone will now display a "" error message saying that the device is corrupt -- this is expected. You need to go back into the bootloader; the easiest way to do this is to unplug the USB cable and hold all three buttons (power, vol-, vol+) until the screen flashes "Fastboot Mode" then quickly release all the buttons. Plug in the USB cable once the boot menu appears. Run the command: fastboot flashing unlock Follow the prompting on screen to unlock, device should wipe data and boot stock android 11. You may now attempt to fastboot flash whatever custom rom. NOTES / TROUBLESHOOTING ----------------------- * MsmDownloadTool uses EDL mode, while in EDL mode the phone display will be blank and the buttons will be unresponsive. * If MsmDownloadTool fails you can become "stuck" in EDL mode. Disconnect the USB cable and hold all buttons for approx 20 sec to force a reboot. * You can force EDL mode by plugging in a USB cable and holding all buttons until the device reboots. * Attempting to use MsmDownloadTool after unlock.ops may trigger an error "Device not match image" due to the modifications made by unlock. Flashing revert.ops will revert the changes and fix the error. (it may also show up as a param error, use revert.ops to fix) * Any attempt to use MsmDownloadTool after the unlock will cause the device to become locked again. You can unlock again by repeating the steps above. * Attempting the unlock process while running android 10 will result in a crash at bootup.
